The Benefits & Compensation Specialist is responsible for ensuring our Total Rewards Program remains competitive and is aligned with our company’s strategy and business objectives. Related duties include working closely with external vendors, management, functional leaders and employees. Responsibilities to include: compensation/benefits administration, benefit vendor relationship management, employee communications, training, onboarding, and compliance. Essential Functions: Coordinates with benefit providers and employees to ensure accurate and timely enrollment and participation in the selected benefit plans. Makes recommendations for changes to benefit plans and coordinates annual open enrollment process. Helps employees understand the benefit plans through employee meetings, written communications and vendor resources. Partner with all benefit vendors on plan design, administration, reporting, communication and all compliance related activities. Plans, organizes, and directs all employee wellness initiatives for Phillips Distilling Co. Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits, compensation, wellness, and personnel policies. Assist with coordinating company functions and employee events such as company meetings, picnics, and company sponsored activities. Sets-up and monitors benefit payroll deductions in HRIS for accuracy and vendor reporting Assists with bi-weekly payroll processing – proofing processed payroll files and serves as primary payroll back-up. Works with HR Business Partners on Leave of Absence requests to ensure compliance with company procedures, federal, state, and local laws. Ensures compliance with privacy regulations. Agrees to abide by all privacy policies and procedures at Phillips. Ensure benefit program compliance. This entails all regulatory filings are done in a timely and accurate manner, including 5500’s, audit preparation, DOL, etc. Administers the compensation program for the entire company by coordinating job descriptions, matching job descriptors to the local market, determining pay ranges, and working with managers to present and enforce the wage program to their employees. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong working knowledge of benefits & compensation administration, design and analysis. Must have superb interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to both interpret and convey accurate information. Must have strong critical thinking skills to evaluate different courses of action and select the appropriate one based on priority and other contextual factors. Must be proficient in Microsoft and HRIS products. Must have the ability to be flexible and effectively manage one’s time while working in a fast paced work environment; including multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple projects and requests simultaneously. Must be self-motivated with the ability and desire to actively learn and adapt in a growing organization. Minimum Requirements of Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification credentials preferred. Reports To: Director, Human Resources
